Whirlwinds, Derby and Dust Devils

Our Munecas travel season is in full swing! WE just returned from Denver where we got a brutal beating from Rocky Mountain Roller Girls on Saturday (though the announcer gave me "hit of the game" which was totally awesome), and then proceeded to pull of a win on Sunday against Pikes peak derby dames.

Adam and Autumn traveled with me, and I really enjoyed having their support and company. I spend so much time and energy missing my loves when I travel, so it was also fantastic not to be wallowing in self pity because I couldn't see my husband and baby. Yes, I am that in love with them. I miss them terribly when I go away. I don't care if it is lame or pathetic, that is the way it is.

After my vacation in Savannah and my games in Denver and Pikes Peak my head is definitely spinning, and my shops are both being a little neglected as I have tons of items to list and no time to really do it. I also need to finish up some paperwork for our first bout at the convention center and get up the courage to ask my dad to sponsor Duke City Derby.

My birthday is this upcoming Sunday and then we will be headed off to Tucson for a Derby Extravaganza called Dust Devil where we will play 3 sanctioned bouts in two days. Awesome.

Then I may need some sleep. Seriously.

  1. I have yet to say so, but I can't tell you how completely awesome I think it is that you do roller derby! That is just too cool. If I had the guts, I'd do it, but the truth is, I'm a powder puff...and very passive aggressive. I have a hard time letting my aggressive side come through, even though I played soccer for 4 years and was none too shy about making my defensive presence known. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try, if only for fun.

  2. Wow, that's so cool! Roller derby just came to my city and I want so badly to catch a game. Good luck in Tucson! And thank you for the comment, I'll be posting a big post on Thursday or Friday about how I get followers and met my goals. I honestly didn't think anyone would be that interested in the nitty gritty but apparently I was wrong.

  3. Hey Erica, you have been busy :) That is awesome that Adam and Autumn travel with you. Your own cheering squad YAY!!!!!! :)

Autumn is growing up with such a strong Mom role model, I bet your Mom is so proud of you (oh and your Dad and Hubby too :)

Great to see you back, :) T.

  4. That is such a cute team picture! I have yet to see a roller derby match... there aren't any games that play up here yet. ;)

  5. Sounds like a blast! Congrats on hit of the game.
(My sis plays for a team in the Miami area.)

Hope you have a wonderful birthday! Congrats on winning the ArtSnark random drawing - it is like an accidental early present

  6. That's so cool that you roller derby!
I think it's sweet, not lame at all that you miss your fella and baby when you travel! ^-^ (Also: is that cute baby in a kilt? CUTE!)

  7. You are really a busy girl, don't you? But I think you can keep your balls in the air.

  8. Good luck in Tucson! And congrats on the 'hit of the game' - your position on the awesomeness scale continues to climb.

As for the 'lame & pathetic' thing - being head-over-heels over your family is the least lame thing I can think of.
