It's Getting Better all the Time.

Well, Adam autumn and I all caught a nasty flue. The onset was sudden, starting with poor little Autumn on Monday night. She has never really been sick and she made some strange whimpers before projectile vomit covered our kitchen floor with milk curdles and orange juice. She seems to still be a little unwell, but her spirits are high. Adam got sick very suddenly starting at about 9pm on Tuesday, and was sent home from work on Wednesday. I left work on Wednesday feeling OK and was really achy and nauseous by about 6pm. Adam and I headed to scrimmage and ended up having to go home before we even got there. I AM REALLY GLAD I brought a plastic bag with me in the car. I was sick all night, but woke up feeling OK. It is amazing to go from feeling like you are dying to feeling decent in a matter of hours.

I have not had a flue in over 15 years. I can't even remember the last time I had a flue.

This is also the first year I have ever taken a flue shot, it was recommended that we all take one since autumn is young. I don't know that I can say that I think they are related (I kind of do), but I do know I am very TIRED of getting sick. I think I have vomited more in the past month than the rest of my life combined!

An Update

As I have mentioned before I have been having several medical issues since Autumns birth. The one that bothers me most is the complete inability to lose the weight I gained while I was pregnant.

I gained 100 lbs, and have only lost 40 lbs, making me 60 lbs over my pre pregnancy weight. After I got the results for my blood work and everything was normal I was very disappointed-as I have mentioned before I have never wanted to find out that I WAS SICK more than I did then, because either way I FEEL sick. I reduced calorie intake again pretty drastically. I was expecting SOME progress when I went to the doctor for my follow up appointment, but I was not so lucky. I weighed ONE POUND less than I did at my last appointment. That is CRAZY- I cut somewhere between 300-500 calories out of my daily intake! That includes not eating anything that has more than 5g of fat or any red meat or pork.

The doctor has put in a referral for an endocrinologist so hopefully going to see a specialist will shine some light on the subject. I know that something is wrong. I keep convincing myself that maybe if I do this or that it will make a difference, but I have made HUGE changes in my lifestyle and diet- which were both already healthy- and I have not any weight since my 6 week check up wiht my gyno.


Fortunately I have the most amazing daughter to show for it, and a very supportive husband.

My new Sewing machine---is AWESOME---

I am sick again. It seems like I am always sick. I keep getting this cold that starts with a heinous ear ache, moves on to my throat and lungs and ends with me hacking out some lovely lung butter.

SO, I haven't put up a post about my new sewing machine yet. Probably because I am too busy sewing to take the time to write anything about it.

And you may read more about it here. It is nothing fancy, but I love it.

It is SOOOO much nicer than my old machine, which I now know was in much worse shape than I thought it was in. I have made several really silly comments since I got it like "WOW, The pressure foot pulls the fabric STRAIGHT through!"

This sewing machine is computerized and has an automatic button stitch. It also has---GASP--- a zipper foot. It is amazing how much easier it is to sew a zipper with a zipper foot!

I lost my zipper foot on my old machine several moves (across state lines) ago and since it took me a long time to even realize how important it is to IRON while sewing, I didn't think it was that major to sew zippers with a regular sewing machine foot.

---I actually on the deans list at FIDM in spite of ignorance about sewing machines. I was always able to produce a decent outcome. Now I know how hard I was making things---

Any given item takes a fraction of the time to sew on my new machine vs. my old machine, and even the fancy stitches are easy to use.

I am so glad I finally replaced my machine. Another thing I have said several times since I got this new machine is "Adam, you know all of those times you said we could replace my sewing machine? I should have taken you up on that offer much sooner. "

yicky colds... and more

I have a little cold. How convenient that I am going to go to the DR tomorrow.

We uploaded a few baby movies to YouTube last night. only 4 of the 10 attempted made it on to YouTube, but I don't feel like uploading them more now.

I have been reading a lot of other blogs lately, and some have been useful while others can be very inspiring.
